to the website of the Greater Bridgeport Association of the Deaf (GBAD).

The organization has been in existence since 1945 and is listed as a non profit tax exempt organization under IRS 501c(3) for public charity. Our mission is to promote educational, cultural and community awareness for the deaf/hard of hearing citizens throughout New England. Through those events, they are to bring the community together to be updated on the laws, services, and so forth that may have an impact on our daily lives including children up to senior citizen.

Anyone is welcome to become member of our organization to promote our mission. You may fill out this application to become an member of the organization and we look forward to have you.

Obituary

Michael Sabia

86 of Stamford passed away peacefully at his daughter's house in Southbury,CT surrounded by his loving family on Friday, November 25, 2011. Born on June 24, 1925 in Stamford to the late Michael G. and Margaret Genovese Sabia. Michael was a Tool and Die maker and co-owner of Bren-Dan Inc. for thirty years before his retirement in 2004. He was also an active member of the Greater Bridgeport Association for the Deaf and a graduate of Mystic Oral School for the Deaf. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Lucy Bonini Sabia of Stamford, his loving daughters who will miss him tremendously, Sandy Effren and her husband Jerry of Norwalk, Bonnie Wilson and her husband Charles of Southbury, Joyce Cebo and her husband John of Stamford, Toni Sabia and Michael LaScala of Stamford and Kim Hiteshew and her husband Steve of Bethel; his son Michael G. Sabia; thirteen loving grandchildren Marc, Jackie, Lisa Effren, Elicia, Gena, Taylor and Jason-Michael Wilson, Melinda Panapada, Melanie Cebo- Sarrantos, Michelle Cebo, Robert Pearson, Jr., Taryn Sabia -Fritz and Mathew Sabia. Also four great grandchildren Madison and Victoria Panapada, Tessa Sabia- Fritz and Eliana Sabia. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his three sisters Anne Bridge, Beatrice Maffucci and Renee Petersen. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in his memory on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the CT Retirement Colony for the Deaf "CRC" 51 Jessamine Street, West Hartford, CT 06119.
